6 Questions to Ask When Considering a New IT Trainer | Keshelle Kerr | Office Productivity Tips

Competition is a beautiful thing! It keeps every person serious about business on top of their game. Over the past few weeks I’ve had the opportunity to speak with several potential clients about hiring me, or working with my company, to deliver the Microsoft Office training they need.

When it boils down to more than one potential training vendor for your company, here’s a few questions that you can ask to determine who you will ultimately hire:

1. What is the training experience, background, and length of time as a Microsoft Office trainer?

2. Are they certified to teach? (Microsoft Office Master Instructor or Certified Application Specialist?)

3. Does the trainer know the software well enough to answer specific questions that may be relevant to your staff’s need, or will they only be showcasing the new features or following a course manual?

4. What is the trainer’s after training service plan? How will they ensure that the training sticks?  What value will they continue to give even after the initial training has completed?

5. Are there any solid client testimonials or feedback you can request indicating the value you will receive if they conduct training for you?

6. How passionate is the trainer about training and the subject matter? If it’s just a “job” for them it may prevent the trainer from putting everything they’ve got into each and every session.

Be sure to ask these questions when evaluating trainers, no matter what the subject matter is. Then you can confidently say that you’ve let the best person win!
